Do I have to strop drinking to lose weight? 


I get this question all the time.

Between the birthday parties, vacations, and friends/coworkers inviting us out for happy hour it can seem almost impossible to give it up while trying to lose weight.

I won't say that you need to completely go cold turkey, but moderation, just like with anything else is the Key!

Here's a few Tips if you don't want to Stop Drinking to Lose Weight:

Portion control. So, nobody is asking you to completely give up alcohol. If you like to drink, you can still have it in moderation. In a perfect world, I'd say just to stop consuming everything that goes against your diet, but that's just not realistic. Instead of getting completely wasted like your friends might be… be the one who stops after a few drinks. The more I've practiced this, the more I realized, I don't need to get totally wasted like everyone else just to have fun, but I do like to have a few cocktails.

Watch your mixers. You'll want to watch what you order and lean toward mixers that are lower in calories. For instance, a 100-calorie tequila shot turns into a 500-calorie margarita. See how just one drink with sugary mixers makes a big difference?

Watch out for the munchies. When we've been drinking, our intelligent decision making can get a little "cloudy." Before you know it, after a night of drinking you find yourself at the drive through ordering all kinds of junk you wouldn't even normally eat. If you take a few minutes to make some healthier food options before you even leave the house, they'll be ready for you to munch on as soon as you get back home.
