Confession! Coming up as a kid I was extremely shy(especially around women), and had always struggled with my confidence.
Health & Fitness has definitely helped me to feel a lot more confortable in my own skin.
This is one of those topics that most of us can relate to, because we all want MORE of it.
Here's 5 Tips to help give you a confidence boost!
1. Smile! A common characteristic of someone who is confident is that they look happy! Smiling has a positive impact on you, as well as everyone else around you.
2. Get Fit. It's a fact that exercise boosts your mood, overall confidence, and make you feel accomplished. People who take care of themselves physically whether it be by going to the gym, home workouts like the one I'm currently doing called PiYo, running, swimming, sports, or any other form of physical activity smile more, look people in the eye, and just have a "bounce" to their step.
This is actually something I need to work on more. Where I came from in Queens NY, you could get beat up for making eye contact with the wrong person. Sounds silly, but it's true :)
3. Walk with Purpose. People who walk like they actually have somewhere to go almost always come off as confident. It makes you look important. Like.. "everyone get out of my way, I have to be somewhere to be!"
4. Look people in the eye. Looking people directly in the eye gives off the idea to the other person that you are confident.
5. Try something new. Trying new things that challenge you, expands your comfort zone. The more you challenge your comfort zones, you lessen your fears, and live an overall happier life.
For me, one thing I was able to cross off my bucket list is starting to train in Jiu Jitsu. I recently got a rank advancement to a 1 stripe white belt, and I'm gradually getting better.
The next time you're scared to try something new, stop for a moment and think "what's the worst that could happen?", and then immediately Take Action!!
Here's to a more happy, more confident YOU!
