5 Tips: How To Stay Motivated To Workout

Motivation seems to be the one thing that almost ALL of us struggle with...

Especially me!

I wanted to share with you really quick 5 of my best tips I've use to keep me motivated:

1. Make time. If you're really serious about making changes, and finally getting the body you want, you're going to have to MAKE time for it. Make the mindset shift that you're going to make health/fitness a permanent part of your life because you deserve to be healthy, and you're sick and tired of letting your lack in motivation be an excuse.

2. Be realistic. It's a lot easier to make a lifestyle change when you do it one step at a time. This isn't going to happen overnight, so right from the start you need to keep it real with yourself about how long it's actually going to take for the result you're trying to get.

*Tip:
a. Write down what your goal body is going to look like(in 30, 60, and 90 days) Use as much detail as possible!
b. Also write down how you will reward yourself for reaching each goal. Some examples would be new workout sneakers, treat yourself to dinner at a restaurant you've been wanting to try, or a massage/spa day.

3. Change up your workouts. I recommend to my clients to switch up their workout program every 3-6 months. That's one of the biggest reasons I think I've been able to stay so consistent the past 4 years. I like to keep things new and fresh when it comes to my workouts. Try it!

*My recommendations: If you're not sure where to start, the I recommend the workout program I'm currently doing called PiYo, or a 3 day cleanse to get you started.

4. Post up your goal. Print out a picture of what your goal body looks like, or rip one out of a magazine. Post it up in places you'll be able to see it everyday. In your work space, posted to the fridge, on the wall by your computer, etc. What helped me was looking at my goal while I was working out, and thinking of the type of mindset that guy had to get so ripped! And I do my best to take on the mindset the guy who has my "dream body" had to have to get there.

5. Be flexible. You DO NOT have to be perfect, none of us are! I'm far from it.... Things happen. Life happens. If your day got out of hand, and some unexpected stuff popped up, you had to work overtime... or even if you were just lazy and didn't "feel like it" be flexible and give yourself a cushion.

I do my best to be 100% with my workouts, but realistically I miss a scheduled workout almost every week, and i'm OK with that. A general rule I use to stay consistent is, that I never go more than 3 days without working out, no matter what's going on. Because at the end of the day, staying in shape is a high priority for me, and I know that if I don't take care of myself no one else will.

Hope these tips helped you extend your journey even a few more days. Keep going, you got this!! I'll be coming out with a "Part 2" of this post soon.

  1. My favorite comment that you gave me was the last which is so realistic, and it goes like this. Because at the end of the day, staying in shape is a high priority for me, and I know that if I don't take care of myself no one else will.
