Stop looking for Overnight Success

Did you ever get frustrated and impatient because something took a LOT longer, and was way harder than you thought it would be?

I know for me, I used to think that success really did happen overnight!

This idea probably came from watching a little too much TV, and thinking that the superstars I looked up too didn't work extremely hard to get where they're at.

So, when I started my own business, the fact that I didn't become rich overnight was really discouraging...

What I've come to know is that if you want to achieve something big it’s going to take a while. It takes hard work and dedication. It takes working on your craft while others and chillin'. And that it's ALL about the work you put in when nobody is looking.

Although it's easier than ever for someone to get their name out there(thanks to the internet,) it's becoming more and more difficult to actually focus on anything. In the world that we live in today, there's a BILLION distractions trying to steal your time.

Being successful means:
1)That you’re not going to fall for all the distractions, and that you’re going to put a laser focus on your goal.
2)You're willing to be patient and turn every failure along the way into a lesson. A setback is just a chance to learn and do it better the next time.
3)You will commit and be in it for the long run. Just DECIDE how your life is going to be and don't care how long it takes you to get there. Think long-term!

It's motivational videos like this that remind me that hard work pays off!!

Sometimes it can be just a slight change in perspective that make all the difference.

3 ways to turn Negative energy to Positive energy

Most people know that thinking positively betters your life, but most people underestimate the power negative thoughts have on their life.
Letting negative energy into your life makes you less productive, drains your motivation, and makes you not want to do things you know should.

The good news is there are several ways to turn it all around and start changing your life for the better today!

Here's 3 ways to turn negative energy to positive energy:

1)Take Responsibility
Instead of blaming others, take responsibility for your own life. This puts you back in control. Isn’t it a freeing feeling knowing you have the ability to change your life RIGHT NOW?!

Instead of thinking about what went wrong in the past, focus on a solution and take 1 step in that direction daily. This is a good way to remove any draining negative energy from your life.

You don’t need to wait another day to be happy.

“Your life changes the day you take responsibility for it.” ~Dr. Steve Maraboli

2)Learn from Experiences
When you’re going through a tough situation, use it as an opportunity to grow. I know for me, some of the biggest lessons in my life have been the hardest ones.

At my very rock bottom, I remember a time when I couldn’t afford to buy tooth paste for a day until payday. I know, gross! It was only for a day, but it taught me a really valuable lesson.

I’ve always looked at my present circumstances as not where I’m going to stay. In a way, my current situation almost doesn’t matter, because I know where I’m going and can’t nobody tell me different.

3)Change your Mind
If you’re someone who’s mind always thinks negative thoughts, it’s time to change those from negative thoughts into positive ones.

This might require cutting some negative people out of your life. You become whatever your dominating thoughts are and who is in your environment.

If you want to get some of that stress off of your mind, it starts with clearing all the junk out.

I know I used to always think negative thoughts, I would argue a lot with people, and had a bad attitude… if I could change those habits, then so can you!

A HUGE Weight has been Lifted!

You know that feeling when a WEIGHT is lifted off of your shoulders?!

That's what I'm feeling this week.

This past weekend at First Steps to Success, I got up on stage along with 90 other people. In total we've paid off $2.5 million using the skills we've learned from my mentor Dani Johnson.
As of Monday night, I was able to pay another $536 towards my DEBT.

That makes a total of over $4,500 this year using Dani Johnson's "War On Debt" system.

Not long ago I would constantly avoid calls from collectors and try to block out in my mind the fact that I owe money, lol.

I now have a financial Vision, and realize that the unnecessary pressure & stress debt brings is so not worth it.

This is my new fried Dionne!
Since coming to her first "First Steps to Success" event, she's paid off $5000 in debt. She was able to change her work environment from negative to positive, has a closer relationship with her mother, and her business has completely turned around with the skills she's learned from Dani Johnson.

Thank God for my job, for people around me who want to see me win, and for my business which is helping me pay things off much faster & travel more while doing it.

Appreciate the Seasons of your Life

Right now I feel like I'm in a place where I feel like all the hard work is finally starting to pay off!

There's been SO many more downs than ups on my journey. One thing I've learned is when times are down, there's nowhere else to go but up.

That, and the fact that life has seasons.

When winters come you have to stay strong.

Stay focussed on where you're going, keep working hard, keep working to improve yourself and you'll be ready to go to the next level when spring comes.

You can't always control how things go in life, but you CAN choose how you react to, and flow with them.

A new season is on the way!

Kelly Conner - Survivor, Leader & Fit Mom!

Words can't describe how PROUD I am of Kelly!!
She's a Mom, Cancer survivor, Leader, she loves horses and is an inspiration to many.

I've had the pleasure of knowing her 2 years now, we've travelled, laughed and cried together.

Here's her story:
"I remember that girl on the left. She smiled on the outside, but on the inside she was a mess. She was absolutely miserable. And not just about her weight. Her weight was simply a reflection of what was going on inside.

She was pretty insecure, had no self confidence, and felt completely alone all the time. So she took her stress out on food. What no one knew was that she had struggled this problem her entire life. Constantly yo-yo'ing back and forth from 125 to 165 with diets and exercise, never being successful, never healthy.

She had absolutely every reason and excuse to fail.

Thankfully, (I insert credit to God here), something clicked one day when she stepped on the scale and weighed almost as much as she had when she was 9 months pregnant.
That's when my journey truly began. That's when, for the first time in my life, someone said "I believe in you." Over the last 2 years I have grown mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. I've found balance and surrounded myself with like minded positive people.

I know what FAILURE and FRUSTRATION feels like. Now it's my turn to pay it forward.

All I know is if i can do it, YOU CAN TOO!!!"

If you're at the point where you're sick and tired of being sick and tired of not feeling like you're your best. Like there's more out there for you but you lack confidence, motivation, and just want a workout/diet program that actually works! Take action like Kelly did and get started today!

Who’s eating your mental energy?

We’ve all had that one person(at least!), that always finds a way to drain your energy.

There’s 3 kinds of people when it comes to this:
-Those who always have drama
-Some who just have a stroke of bad luck every once in a while
-Then there’s the ones who seem like they NEVER have a bad day

Some people are so focussed, they just know how to steer clear of drama. These people know what their priorities are. The good news is, if there’s other people doing it, you can too. It’s your choice!

In the past I’ve been the one who's tried to fix everyone else's problems. After seeing how this was taking me in the wrong direction, I realized you can’t change anyone.

Just like you can’t make someone commit to losing weight. They have to want it for themselves.

I still love to help people, but i’ve learned how to cheer people on from afar, and focus more on leading by example. Actions always speak louder than words & people will follow what you DO, not what you say.

In no way am I an expert on this stuff, and i’m definitely NOT telling you what to do. I just want to share what's worked for me to get more balance in my life.

What helps you get your mental strength back after someone drains you out??

I want to know. Leave me a comment below!

Learn to Respect Your Own Time

I know how frustrating and time consuming it can be to when people come to you with all of their problems.

Are you the "go-to" person for your friends for life, relationship or personal advice?

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be there for people, but when you're trying to take your life to the next level, you don't have time to waste!

The truth is, if you don't value your own time, you can't expect anyone else to.

Something that has helped me get focussed, put more attention on my own life, and avoid everyone else's drama around me is to start phasing out certain people and things that aren't helping me to get where I'm going.

Especially with social media, it makes it even easier for people around us to complain about all the things not going good in their lives.

One thing I know for sure, is that if you're focussed on what everyone else's problems, you'll never get where you're trying to go.

I'm not saying that you have to cut off all of your friends and the people you care about. What I am saying is that you can start to spend less time/energy on everyone else's problems.

When people start to see that you're less available for them to dump their issues on, they'll stop looking to you every time something goes wrong and you'll have more time to focus on what really matters to YOU!

Respect your time and others will too.

Chase your Dreams but Enjoy the Ride

We all have goals we're trying to accomplish in life. Maybe you want to own a successful business, travel the world, or maybe it's to be healthy and get in your best shape. Whatever it is, don't forget to focus on the small, day to day steps that get you to the big goal. These tips will help you enjoy the ride on your way to making your dreams a reality.

Be patient

Being a naturally driven person, I've always had big goals, but have struggled with never satisfied with where I was. Like when I left New York. That alone was a HUGE accomplishment for me, because not too many people that come where I'm from in Queens ever leave. I had expected my entire life to change overnight, but I've had to really learn to have patience. And that everything is a process.

Happiness over everything

When my dream of making millions of dollars and traveling the world didn't happen overnight(nothing worth having does,) I started to slowly realize that focusing only on the big goal was a setup for being unhappy. I've always been a happy person overall and always put a positive spin on everything, but there were definitely times where my emotions would get the best of me. I found myself getting frustrated, and I was left 10-20% of the time feeling unsatisfied.

Your day-to-day happiness is everything!! There's no goal worth having if it makes you miserable along the way.

Attitude of gratitude

I've learned to put Purpose to my dreams, focusing less on the outcome and more on the impact I have on people. Every time someone tells me that I've helped them achieve a goal or change their life in some sorta way, I realize THAT is what it's all about. To this day, I still have to remind myself to stay focussed on the present and to be grateful in the moment, but I'm getting better at it each day.

Your time is going to come but you have to appreciate the little things and be grateful for what you ALREADY have.

Take a deep breath, appreciate the steps you’ve taken today, this week, this month, this year.

How to be Stress Free

Can you think of a time when you let someone or something get under your skin to the point where it ended up ruining your whole day?

At the end of the day, we don't have anyone else to blame for our reactions other than ourselves. It took me a while to really understand this concept, but when I did, it got a lot easier to just LET GO in certain situations.

You can just as easily decide that you're NOT going to let that person or situation mess up your day.

We can't control situations, but only how we REACT to them.

Letting go of our attachment to a particular outcome(especially ones that we can't control), and focusing on how we CHOOSE to react is such a freeing feeling!

We’ve been conditioned your entire lives to make judgments about what’s good and bad, what we want and don't want. The way to live a happier, more stress-free life is to let go of how we think certain people and situations should be. We all know we can't change people.

There's a quote that has always stuck with me and I find it to be SO true! -- "People would rather die than change."

I know for me, one thing that's help so much with not reacting so quick to situations, being more stress-free and getting a better handle on my thoughts has been meditation.

Here's what to do the next time someone or something is about to stress you out:

1. Take a mental step back
2. Decide that the rest of your day is going to be a good one
3. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and exhale the bullshit

Like a lot of things in life, it's simple … but not easy.

Are Abs Really Made in the Kitchen?

So we’ve all heard the saying “Abs are made in the kitchen” and it's true!

Prior to starting my fitness journey, I literally knew NOTHING about how to eat healthy.
After a LOT of frustration, I was finally able to find what works!

What I found was 80% of your results come from what you eat, and only 20% comes from exercise.

It's true! Your food is your FUEL.

I'm not saying you should stop working out because thats a huge piece of the puzzle too.

We can be eating healthy foods and not see the scale move at all! Then, we get frustrated and lose motivation.

For me, one thing I changed right away that helped me lose 5 lbs my first week is watching my portions.

>>Starting tonight at dinner, pick limit yourself to only eating HALF of what you would normally eat. If you're still hungry, have another smaller portion 1 & 1/2 to 2 hours later.

Do this for a week with your 3 main meals, and I bet you'll lose a pound or two, and your clothes will start fitting looser.

Hope this helps!
